As far as mountain castle remains go, Takeda Castle is rare for being the most perfect in the country. Another name for the castle is ”Torafusajo” or ”Kogajo” as it appears as if a tiger is lying down on the ground. Other nicknames include ”Japanese Machu Picchu” and ”Castle in the Sky”. Many tourists visit to see its sea of clouds.

  • Point

    The sea of clouds can be seen early in the morning between dawn and 08:00 am or so. Flashlight, rain gear, and an outfit for cold weather are required. It takes about 40- 60 minutes to see it.

  • Nearest Station/IC Access

    Exit "Takeda Station" on the JR Bantan Line, and take a 40-minute walk (it's tiring)

    20-minute taxi ride from JR "Takeda Station" (Taxi reservation required as the available number of taxis is limited in the morning)
