Sunflower Fields in Akeno
Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture is a mountainous town situated in the northwestern part of the prefecture, which boarders Kayano City and Ina City, Nagano Prefecture. The festival of sunflowers, “Hokuto City Akeno Sunflower Festival” is held here annually. As many as 600,000 sunflowers spread across three venues, including the main venue situated along the Kayagatake Koiki Nodo farm road.

During the sunflower season, the “Hokuto-shi Akeno Sunflower Festival” is held, and there, the visitors can enjoy soft-serve ice cream with sunflower seed topping, locally harvested fresh vegetables, stalls operated by the local chamber of commerce and industry, as well as sunflower photo contests.
