Chitose and Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival
Various objects in different sizes made by blowing and freezing water from the Lake Shikotsu shine in a Shikotsu blue color during the day, and are illuminated in various colors by night, luring visitors into a world of wonders. Ice slides and the objet d’art version of the famous Koke no Domon, the moss cave are particularly popular. The main ice sculptures are product of the laborious work by a team of about 10 production staff working for long hours to create them.
