Oct. Morning

This pond was formed during a massive eruption of Mount Yake (literally “burning mountain”). The skeletons of dead trees stand in the middle of the pond, and create a magical scene depending on the time and season. The Hotaka mountains are reflected on the surface of the pond, and the surrounding area is rich with beautiful scenery, making it a famous spot in Kamikochi.
