Kyo no Tanabata Festival
- 京の七夕
- Kyoto
During the time of the festival, wishes from all over the country are gathered together. The wishes are burned in huge fires and return to the heavens. This event happens at the five most important temples of the region and in Kiyomizu Temple. (This ceremony consists of burning amulets with fire to return the wishes to the Heavens.) During the time of the festival, temples and shrines are lit up by night, and visitors can enjoy "Yuzen Nagashi" (washing kimono silks in the river.)
