Tenno Hachiman Shrine
The "himebotaru" (princess firefly) is called the "kinbotaru" (golden firefly)" because of its golden glow. Although this species is rare, they are known for gathering around Tenno Hachiman shrine, shining their golden light in the evening. The sight of their thousands of lights dancing in lively joy is breathtaking.
Tettachokonoie, Niimi, Okayama
In order to protect the fireflies for future enjoyment, guests are asked not to shine flashlights, smoke, use flash cameras, or other acts that may harm their growth. On Saturday and Sunday, photography is not allowed on in the shrine.
