After travelers came over the worst of the Torii Pass, what waited for them was a post-station town known as ”Narai of the Thousand Houses,” liveliest of the Eleven Stations of Kisoji (Kiso Road). Built on streets across a full kilometer, the rich landscape of the Edo era still remains today. Step into the town and be transported back to the days of the Tokugawa shogunate.
