Dakigaeri Valley
- 抱返り渓谷
- Akita
Dakigaeri Valley is one of the Tohoku region's most beautiful valleys. It gets the name from the combination of two words "Daki" (to hug/embrace) and "Kaeri" (switch positions). Long ago, the trekking path was extremely narrow, so narrow in fact that people coming from opposite directions had to "hug and hold each other" to pass through. The brilliantly blue stream flows among the magnificent mountains, and makes a stark contrast with fresh green leaves in summer and the colorful foliage in autumn.
