Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley)
Jan.
Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley) is a volcanic caldera created by the eruption of Mt. Hiyoriyama, and is the largest hot spring source in Noboribetu Onsen. Jigokudani is a suitable name for a place where scaldingly hot water and powerful jets of steam burst from uncountable hot spring vents and holes, all with a strong, rotten egg-like sulfur smell.
