Motsu-ji Temple
Motsu-ji Temple

This temple is one of the assets registered in the Hiraizumi World Heritage Site, and within its precincts you'll find a Jodo-style Japanese garden whose form has been preserved almost perfectly since the Heian era. This style of garden is said to depict the Pure Land, which is the realm of the Bodhisattvas. In late June, the area around the garden blooms with 30,000 Japanese irises, which are sure to delight any who visit during this time.
