Mangrove Primeval Forest
The mangrove forest is situated in the southern part of Amami Oshima island and is the second largest in Japan. There is an observation deck that overlooks the mangrove and walking trails that offer an up close view of the plants. You can also explore the forest in a kayak to get a close look at the mangrove and experience the power of nature.

The mangrove has a different charm during high tide and low tide. During low tide, you will be able to catch a glimpse of crabs as well as mangrove tree roots in many different shapes.
Take the bus bound for Koniya at Naze West Court-mae bus stop and get off at Mangrove Park-mae. The bus ride takes around 40 minutes.
