Gujo Hachiman Castle
Gujo Hachiman Castle is said to be the most beautiful castle in Japan. In 1871, following the abolition of feudal domains, the castle was abandoned and everything, except for the stone walls, was demolished. It was later rebuilt in 1933 and has been designated as a Important Cultural Property by the town for being the oldest reconstructed wooden castle tower in Japan. The castle tower offers a panoramic view of the castle town. It is also a popular place for a stroll as visitors can enjoy the natural scenery which changes with the seasons throughout the year.
