Kintai Bridge is a wooden bridge that spans Nishiki River in a series of five wooden arches, earning it a spot in Japan's Top Three Bridges and Top Three Unusual Bridges. The bridge is a popular landmark in Iwakuni and was renovated in 2004 because the wood has deteriorated over the years. It was designed with five arches because the feudal lord who built it wanted to make it a sturdy bridge that can withstand the strong currents.
