The main temple of Nichiren School of Buddhist. It was founded by venerable Nichiren in 1274 in the mountains. To visit the temple, it is necessary to climb 287 stone steps after passing through the main gate. Most of the temple buildings were reconstructed after being destroyed by a big fire in the Meiji period and among which, the five-story Pagoda is an esteemed building that shouldn't be missed. Nichiren was said to have climbed to the top of Mount Minobu in memory of his parents to look in the direction of his hometown in Minamiboso. The summit is accessible via ropeway located beside the main hall and you can see Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay from there. The 400 year-old weeping cherry tree planted in front of Soshi Hall is also one of its main attraction.
