Takaragawa Onsen is a hot spring hotel surrounded by lush greenery on the upstream of Tonegawa river. There are four large outdoor baths, and the largest is Kodakara-no-yu, which measures over 330 square-meter. The onsen has four rich hot spring sources filling the baths with hot water throughout the year. The menu consists of dishes mainly made with mushrooms, freshwater fishes and mountain vegetables. This neighbourhood is said to have been populated since the Yayoi period (300BC - 300CE), and the ryokan re-creates the "bear soup", an important protein source, with pork. A night at this ryokan is sure to warm you up from the inside.
