Kotohira Shrine

More commonly known as "Konpira-san" of Sanuki, Kotohira Shrine is famous for the long stone steps leading up to the shrine, with 785 steps to the main shrine and a total of 1368 steps to the inner shrine. The traditional buildings along the approach have been preserved and now house several souvenir shops and Sanuki Udon restaurants. In the shrine and along the steps, you can find Japan's important cultural assets and several historical buildings.
