Lake Shizen Lake Shizen Lake Shizen Lake Shizen

This is a natural lake that was created when the Otaki River was blocked by a mudslide caused by the 1984 Nagano earthquake. The water in the lake is gradually being replaced by the Otaki River, but there is almost no flow. At its deepest point, the water level rises about 20 meters, submerging the entire valley. The highlight is the mysterious view that looks as if large trees are growing out of the water.
