Unno-juku Historic Post Town on Old Hokkoku Kaido
A former post town that flourished as the financial hub on the Hokkoku Kaido that connected Nakasendo to the Sea of Japan side of Nagano. It is said that 25 horses and 25 labourers were always available in town. The 650 meters long main street has been preserved and today, you can still see many shophouses and folk dwellings standing along both side of the waterway that flows through the center of the town. In 1986, the town was chosen as one of Japan's Top 100 Roads.
