Old Endo Residence
The four-story house was built in the unique Tamugimata architectural style and designated as Tangible Cultural Property of Yamagata Prefecture in 1974. As the limited land and heavy snowfall made it hard to extend the building, the rooms to house people and the silkworm business were concentrated in a single building. This gave rise to its current structure. The building has a couple of distinctive features, among which are a sloping roof that resembles a beautiful samurai helmet due to its silhouette and curvature, light windows at the side of the building, and windows to let out smoke.
