Apr. Night

Mount Kintoki is the highest peak in Hakone caldera with an altitude of 1213 meters. Until the Edo period, it was called Mount Inohana (nose of pig). The mountain is officially named Mount Ashigara. However, in recent times, due to the popularity of the legend of Sakata no Kintoki (a folk hero in Japanese folklore) as "Kintaro of Mount Ashigara" in the region, the mountain is now more commonly known by "Kintoki". The summit offers a view of Lake Ashinoko and Sengokuhara down below, as well as a 360-degree panoramic view of Mount Fuji, Tanzawa Mountains, the Southern Alps and the mountains in Izu among others. The route from Ashigaru Pass via the remains of the Inohana Rock, which is part of Ashigaru Castle, is one of the more popular mountaineering route.
