Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium
This stadium was used as the venue for the ski jump events of the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, and you can ride a lift up to the top. From the moment you get on the lift, you're sure to marvel at the steepness of the incline and understand just how nervous the athletes who skied down this slope must have been. At the peak is a glass-enclosed observation deck, and in the evening you'll be treated to a view of the lights of Sapporo. Athletes train here even now: if you're lucky, you'll get to see someone doing a "summer jump" as part of their off-season training.
