Fukuoka Tower
- 福岡タワー
- Fukuoka & Hakata
Built for the 1989 Asian-Pacific Expo, the 234-meter Fukuoka Tower is a major Hakata landmark. The monument has a sharp, triangular figure thanks to the more than 8,000 half-mirrors that cover it. The 360° panoramic view from the observation deck located 123 meters above ground level (or the lounge just one floor below) is truly stunning. Extending from the seashore below is Sazae-san-dori, a street with deep connections to the late Machiko Hasegawa, creator of the immensely popular Sazae-san comic series.
