Tsuzura Rice Terrace
One of the historical rice terraces to be listed in Top 100 Rice Terraces in Japan. There are around 300 rice paddies, occupying an area of 7-heactare, nestled in the ravine along Tsuzura River. Said to be built about 400 years ago, the rice terrace are protected by stone walls made from rocks collected from the mountains. In autumn, 500,000 higanbana come into bloom and the Ukiha Higanbana Tour & Basara Festival is held, drawing a huge crowd to the area.
