Tachibana-dera Temple
- 橘寺
- Nara
The temple is believed to be the birthplace of Prince Shotoku in 572 and the statue of the prince is the principal image of the temple. Most of the temple buildings have burnt down, but they were rebuilt during the Edo period. The temple also used to have a five-story pagoda, but it was destroyed by lightning and only the ruins remain now. Beside these, you can also find a two-faced stone—one side good and one side evil—said to represent a human heart.
