Hakone Tozan Cable Car
- 箱根ケーブルカー
- Hakone
The cable car has been a common mode of transportation for tourists and hot spring guests for many years in the historical and popular hot spring resort of Hakone. It links Gora, the upper terminus of Hakone Tozan Railway at an altitude of 553 meters, with Sounzan on the ropeway 208 meters above. The whole journey takes about 10 minutes. The cable car offers a spectacular view in each season, from the brilliant fresh green in spring and early summer to the bright red maples in late autumn. The tiny two-car red train was manufactured in Switzerland, and the cars have steps in them to fit the slope of the railway.
