The garden was created by Sankei Hara, an industrialist and tea master, and was opened to the public in 1906. The vast garden, located in Honmoku, Yokohama, overlooking Tokyo Bay, contains 10 buildings designated as important cultural properties by the national government, 3 buildings designated as tangible cultural properties by the city of Yokohama, and other historical buildings relocated from Kyoto and Kamakura. Every spring you can enjoy the great scenery of the 300 cherry trees in bloom. At the "Cherry Blossom Evening" held during the cherry blossom season, buildings such as the three-storied pagoda are lit up and you can experience a different atmosphere from the daytime.
