Dorokyo is a gorge on Kitayamagawa River, a tributary of Kumanogawa River, that spans across three prefectures—Wakayama, Mie, and Nara. The large gorge has captivated people since ancient times and has been designated as Special Places of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument by the country. The rugged and steep cliffs and the clear emerald waters flowing through the gorge come together to create a magical world. The autumn foliage is also spectacular at the gorge located at one of the most secluded regions in Japan.
