Meiji Jingu Shrine
- 明治神宮
- Tokyo
The Meiji Emperor and Empress Shoken are worshipped at this shrine. Originally, the area was a wasteland, so the forest surrounding the shrine was planted with many different kinds of trees. The design concept was “The Eternal Forest”, and it requires no maintenance. For this reason, the shrine grounds themselves overflow with vegetation, and Japanese iris blooms in the imperial garden.
