This shrine was built to inform future generations of the achievements of Toshiie Maeda, the first lord of the Maeda clan of Kaga. In the Meiji Era during 1873, it was moved to its present location in Oyama, hence the name "Oyama Shrine." There is a statue of the Lord Toshiie inside the shrine, along rows of pine trees. There are various artifacts kept here, such as a Noh mask, a sword, and a short sword (wakizashi), which among others are designated cultural properties in the city of Kanazawa.
