Also known as Tokyo’s hidden gem, Aogashima is the village with the fewest population in Japan. With only around 160 residents, the island boasts of a spectacular sky full of stars at night, and the unique sight of a double-crater volcano. It is an island which is famous for having many remaining mysteries even up to now.

It is particularly difficult to get here, as there is only 1 helicopter trip per day and there are only 9 seats, and boats only travel fifty percent of the time. However, the trip to island may very well be worth all that trouble.
From Hachijo Island, 2 and a half hours via ferryboat connection “Aogashimaru” (Mondays to Saturdays, 4 days a week)
From Hachijo Island, 20 minutes via “Tokyo Island Shuttle” Helicopter (1 trip per day, 9 seats)
