May

Located at the foot of Mt. Rokko that overlooks Kobe Harbor, unique and European-style houses can be seen along the streets of this area. In 1868, a foreign settlement was established in Kobe, and in turn, many Western-style houses with brick walls and oil-painted white halls were built here.
Dignitaries from various countries, including the UK, France and China visit here. The mixture of both Western and Oriental-styled buildings give off a distinctly different atmosphere. One famous house in particular, considered as the symbol of Kitano Ijinkan, is the "Old Thomas House," now the Kazamidori House, which has a weathercock on its steepletop. There are also various shops in the town where visitors can enjoy shopping for different fashion, artwork, and sample delicious cuisines.
