The island, which lies 7.5km north of Takamatsu, and 1km north of Megijima Island, is a part of Seto Inland Sea National Park. The Ogijima Lighthouse which was constructed with a rare granite stone, was the setting for the 1957 movie, "Times of Joy and Sorrow." There is also a small museum beside it. The Ogijima promenade, which is around 1600m in total length from the lighthouse, has many interesting sightseeing spots, including "Ji's hole," where an ogre that Momotaro vanquished was said to have escaped; and a columnar joint, the "Tank rock" which was produced around 5 million years ago due to a volcanic activity. In winter, daffodil flowers around the boardwork are a beautiful sight.
