Adachi Museum of Art
This art museum was established by Zenko Adachi, a businessman and a local of Yasugi City. The museum holds 120 masterpieces by master modern artist Taikan Yokoyama, and 20 of his works are always on display. Also included in the museum’s collection are the modern Japanese paintings of artists such as Seiho Takeuchi, Gyokudo Kawai, and Tessai Tomioka. The museum also carries Rosanjin Kitaoji’s pottery masterpieces. In addition, the Japanese garden around the museum, which boasts of around 165,000 square meters of land, has ranked number one for 15 consecutive years in “Sukiya Living: The Journal of Japanese Gardening,” an American publication that specializes in Japanese gardens. The breathtaking “Garden of White Sand and Blue Pine,” which was modeled after Taikan Yokoyama’s “A Beautiful Pine Beach,” is a must-see. The museum exhibition changes four times each year, and the harmony between the gardens and masterpieces on display are retained every season.
