The god of this shrine is Kanayamahiko no Mikoto, a deity of metal and metal machinery. Originally a private shrine, the main hall was constructed in 1883. The god has also been called the deity of gold. One notable thing about the shrine is the golden torii gates, which was originally wooden. It was broken by a typhoon, then remade in iron, and then in 2006 it was made golden (because the shrine god is the deity of "gold."). Because the temple gate is open 24 hours, worshippers can visit freely any time of the day. There are a lot of worshippers particularly before the first day of spring (setsubun).
