Sarushima Island
- 猿島
- Yokohama
Sarushima is the only natural island in Tokyo Bay. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities all year, like fishing, swimming. Equipment for barbecuing can also be rented. Up until the end of the war, it was used as a navy fortress, and civilian entry was prohibited. Until now, old military facilities still remain in the island, such the old trunk of a battery, and a tunnel of bricks where trees grow. There is also a building made of bricks leftover from the Tokugawa period--one of the only 4 locations where this can be found.
