A river flowing through the town of Shimizu, Kakita River is a designated national treasure. The river was formed due to the eruption of Mount Fuji 8,500 years ago, upon which lava piled on the ground and was hardened by rain and snow. This famous clear-flowing river has many certifications, including "100 famous bodies of waters," and "100 natural resources in Japan that we want to leave for the 21st century."
