Founded in 1029, it is the 20th refuge temple of the Kansai Kannon Pilgrimage. It is located right at the center of the western mountains in Kyoto, and the view all around it is magnificent. The area is over 90,000 square meters, and there are numerous cherry trees, hydrangea plants, maple trees and other flowering trees in the temple's precints, painting the surroundings with different colors every season. A pine tree, called "Yuryu no matsu," grows here and attracts many crowds for its uniqueness. With a height of 2 meters and width of 37 meters, this tree is a designated natural monument.
