Fukiya Furusato Village
- 吹屋ふるさと村
- Okayama
Located around 550 meters atop the mountains in Takahashi City, this old village retains the atmosphere of the end of Edo period until the Meiji Era. Fukiya merchants consulted each other in order to create these rows of mansions under a unified concept. The result was this beautiful sight of row upon row of mansions with vivid red "Bengara" colored stone tile roofs. The whole townscape has been declared an “Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.”
