Ishidatami in Uchiko
Ishidatami is located about 10 km within the town of Uchiko, in an area with terraced rice paddies. It has been selected as one of the "Top 100 beautiful landscape of Japanese farm villages." It has retained the atmosphere of an old traditional village, with masonry remains, a waterwheel restored in 1990, and old houses from the Edo period. In 1994, "Ishidatami no Yado," a cobblestone inn, was opened. In the garden built by the locals, there are three water wheels where the rice is milled. The upper area of Fumoto River (which runs alongside the town) is famous for its view of fireflies that seem to dance. From here, walking 30 minutes will take you to Yuge Shrine, which was established during the Muromachi Period.
