Niutsuhime Shrine

This shrine, built over 1700 years ago, is a World Heritage Site. The enshrined deity here is "Michihiraki" who protects from catastrophes. The current existing main shrine was refurbished during the Muromachi period. With its magnificent sculptures and the foundations and frames painted red, it is the largest scale Kasuga-style structure in Japan, and together with the tower, are important cultural assets.
