This shrine, built over 1700 years ago, is a World Heritage Site. The enshrined deity here is "Michihiraki" who protects from catastrophes. With its magnificent sculptures and the foundations and frames painted red, it is the largest scale Kasuga-style structure in Japan, and together with the tower, are important cultural assets.
