Katahara Onsen (Hot Springs)
quiet hot spring resort enveloped in green groves of trees. The oldest among the hot springs in Gamagori City, it was said that around 500 years ago, the Zen master at Hodaji temple dug out the hot water from the foot of Mount Sangane as he was instructed to in a dream. This hot spring consists of 3 hotels and ryokans, and in these accommodations, guests can enjoy seafood fresh from the Katahara fishing port. The village around the onsen is also surrounded by hydrangea blossoms, said to be the best within the Tokai Region. Many people come to visit here during the "Hydrangea Festival." Nearby, guests can also enjoy the theme park "Laguna Ten Bosch," open throughout the year.
