Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History
This public museum has two roles – that of a museum and that of an archive. It collects, preserves, and investigates historical data about Ibaraki Prefecture before publishing its findings to the residents of the prefecture. Built on the site of the former Mito Agricultural High School, the main building of the museum is preserved to look like how it was when it was built. The former Mizukaido Elementary School, a school with a distinctive Meiji era style (1868-1912), is also visible alongside farms of the same era. Important historical records can be seen in categorical order inside the Hitotsubashi Memorial Hall.
