Mitsumine Shrine is one of the three big shrines of Chichibu. A rare triangular three-pillar tori (traditional Japanese gate) greets visitors at the entrance to the shrine, one of only a handful in the whole of Japan. While it is known in the Kanto region as a place of spiritual energy, the majority of visitors are females who come here to visit the matchmaking trees. Here, a fir and a cypress tree are stood so close together that it almost appears like they are snuggling up next to each other. Make an offering to god by writing the name of the person you like. The “Yodaihen” (shrine to worship Gods from afar) is also a must-see. Located at the back of the main shrine, visitors can worship Gods from afar here while overlooking Mt. Kumotori, Mt. Shiraiwa and Mt. Myohogatake.
