Nov.

The founder of this museum filled with magnificent Oriental Works of Art, Mr. Mokichi Okada, holds the strong belief that, “Art should not be monopolized”. It opened in 1952 and boasts the oldest history in Hakone. It currently focusses of Japanese pottery items, such as earthenware from the Jomon era (14,000-300 BCE) and old pottery kilns made during the Muromachi era (1185-1333). Pottery items from the Edo era (1603-1867) are displayed in the permanent exhibition. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful contrast between moss and autumnal leaves in the surrounding “Moss Garden” and “Haji Road”.
