Ikuta Ryokuchi Park
Ikuta Ryokuchi Park is the largest green area in the city of Kawasaki. Visitors to the park can enjoy the lush, nature-rich Tama-Satoyama environment, with woodlands full of oak and pin oak trees, as well as vast agricultural fields. What’s more, museums such as the “Taro Okamoto Museum of Art”, the “Fujiko. F. Fujio Museum”, and the “Japan Open-Air Folk Museum” are all located within the park grounds. The “Kawasaki Municipal Science Museum”, also located within the park, displays steam trains such as the D51408, as well as a planetarium which projects the world’s highest starry sky. It was developed by a resident of Kawasaki City – none other than Planetarium Curator, Takayuki Ohira.
