Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine
Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine is said to have the oldest Kirishima Azalea tree in Japan. Around 2,000 flowers bloom profusely with these old trees at Otokuni Temple during the spring. The worshipped deities here include Sugawara no Michizane and Arihara Narihira, thus it often being referred to as “The Gods Looking Back" as they look back over the capital from here.
